David T. Bradley, PT, MPT
David became interested in physical therapy as a young athlete. He was a member of his high school's varsity football and track teams where recovery after injuries deepened his curiosity of physical rehabilitation. Upon pursuing a physical therapy career, he received a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University in 1992. Over the past 25 years, David has established strong affiliations in the athletic community, providing physical therapy services to high school, intercollegiate, professional and Olympic athletes. David specializes in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, with emphasis in Manual Therapy. He has a special interest in working with shoulder and lower extremity dysfunctions. In past years, he has taken numerous continuing education courses including a one-year course, which emphasized the Maitland Approach to Manual Therapy and continues to participate in various continuing education courses related to orthopedic, sports therapy and neuromuscular re-education. When he is not working, David enjoys hiking and watching hockey.
Kathy Bradley, PT, DPT, CPI
Director of Physical therapy
Kathy received her Master of Physical Therapy from Chapman University in 1994 and advanced her education in 2010 receiving her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. In addition to her education in physical therapy, Kathy received comprehensive Pilates training and is certified in both Aline Conditioning Technique (2001) and Polestar Education, Practitioner of Pilates Rehabilitation in (2003). She has a love for learning and has completed numerous continuing education courses over the past 25 years including a year-long, Maitland based, Manual Therapy course, and numerous other seminars including, but not limited to the treatment of the shoulder, knee, spine and sacroiliac joint. Additionally, she holds certifications in level 1 & 2 SFMA. Kathy has a special interest in sports medicine and spinal rehabilitation using a combination of hands-on-treatment, neuromuscular re-education and Pilates rehabilitation. Kathy's favorite part of her job is helping patients return to the activities that they love. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, running, yoga, pilates and traveling.
Kenyon Grant, PT, MPT, OCS
Kenyon Grant graduated from Chapman University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She continued her studies and graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in 1999 with a Masters in Physical Therapy. She is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) since 2007. Her treatment approach focuses on a combination of manual therapy, functional exercise progression and patient education. She has a special interest in the treatment of spinal dysfunction; including post operative conditions, scoliosis, chronic spinal pain, postural abnormalities and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Kenyon has been an employee of Newport Physical Therapy since 2010.
Catharina Gerken, PT, MScSM
Catharina was born and raised in Sweden and moved to the USA in 1980 where she decided to pursue her longtime dream of becoming a physical therapist. She graduated from Boston University in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and received her Master's degree in Sports Medicine 4 years later from Chapman University. Catharina worked at two different well established sports medicine clinics in Orange County before she joined the team at Newport Physical Therapy in 2002. Catharina treats a great variety of orthopedic problems such as neck and back injuries, post-op total joint replacements, as well as sports injuries. She has advanced her physical therapy knowledge throughout the years by attending a variety of courses such as Maitland joint mobilization, athletic taping (including Mc Connell and kinesiotaping), ergonomics and many other continuing education courses. Catharina is a strong believer that using your hands can teach you about the quality of a muscle or joint therefore, she emphasizes a hands on approach when treating her patients. Catharina is married and has three grown daughters. When she is not working she likes to travel, hike, ski, and spend time with family and friends.
Lynzi Irvine, PT, DPT, CYI
Lynzi is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, lover of movement, forever athlete, and yoga teacher. Lynzi is driven to understand how the way people move affects how they feel and perform. If you are having pain or difficulty with performing an activity, there is always a reason why, and almost always something you can do to improve it. She has over a decade of experience as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, working with all kinds of people and injuries. She was exposed to physical therapy as a patient after a knee injury in high school which sparked her interest in the field. Lynzi has a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Chapman University. Lynzi has used yoga as a portion of exercise for herself and for clients for many years. She did her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Medicine and enjoys involvement in the yoga community.
Talia Dominello, PT, DPT
Talia graduated with a BS in Biology in 2010 from California State University Channel Islands and then she initially began a career as a marine biologist. She became interested in physical therapy after she sustained a knee injury. The desire to help others learn to recover and improve the quality of their life was the impetus for her to—almost literally—jump ship and pursue a career in physical therapy. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from California State University Long Beach with honors. Talia has taken part in baseline concussion testing for youth sport teams, research for thoracic-specific musculature exercises, and has a variety of experience treating the orthopedic, neurologic, and pediatric populations. Talia is interested in the treatment of balance dysfunctions, overuse injuries, and prevention of injuries. In her free time, Talia enjoys Pilates, TRX, hiking, farmers markets, and walking her rescue dog.
James Dones, PTA
Physical Therapy Assistant
Functional Training Coach
James Dones serves as both a licensed PTA and Functional Training Coach at Newport Physical Therapy. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton as well as his Physical Therapy Assistant degree from Cerritos College. James has experience working with a variety of patient populations including those with orthopedic issues, high school and collegiate athletes, as well as those at the professional level. With a strong manual therapy background, he favors integrating a functional movement approach to clinical rehab with hands-on techniques to enhance quality movement patterns. Additionally, James holds certifications including: A.R.T. and FMS level 2. James has been an employee of Newport PT since 2008.
Erin Kelly, PTA
Physical Therapy Assistant
Erin Thomas graduated from California State University, Northridge in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Science in Recreation and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Play and Child Development. She played Division 1 soccer at the university and earned an athletic scholarship all four years. Upon graduating, Erin became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine where she trained clients between the ages of 12 and 90 for goals of weight loss, muscle gain, and overall functional physical fitness. She also privately trained soccer players and teams between the ages of 7 and 18. She continued her education and graduated with honors from Concorde Career College receiving her Physical Therapy Assistance degree in 2018. In May 2018, Erin joined the team at Newport Physical Therapy and has been working with a wide range of patient demographics. In her spare time, Erin enjoys snowboarding, working out, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.
